Talking to Strangers There are so many people
on my street
that I would dearly
like to meet.
I'd like to see
those husbands and wives
all of them leading
such interesting lives.
I'd like to say, "Hello!"
to Andy, Carla, Liz, and Jim
but mother says they're strangers
and I shouldn't talk to them.
She says that about everyone
tall, thin, big, or small.
So unless you're not a stranger
I should never talk at all.
The Point The soul
is a geometric point
no length
no width
or mass of any kind.
It cannot
physically exist
but the universe
collapses
without it.
Darklings They hide in the dark
beneath your bed
the shadowed halls
you fear to tread.
You cannot see them
but they're there
waiting for you
to enter their lair.
They'll tear you apart
from flesh to bone
with the savagery
of the great unknown.
When the sun goes down
then cower in fear
and pray the darklings
don't come near.
Another World I dream of a sunny meadow
where time has frozen still
such beauty none has ever seen
and likely never will.
I walk the grassy fields
sift the waves between my fingers
breathe the  dancing wind
and hope the feeling lingers
for in a moment it will fade
though I'm trying to hold on.
I awake in silent tears
and another world is gone.
A Scritching and a Scratching I can hear them scratching
in the corners of my room.
The rasping movement of their legs
the sound that spells my doom.
They're crawling on the walls
and even on the ceiling.
I can't see a single one
but I can't escape the feeling
that they'll scritch and scratch across the floor
crawl up into my bed
drag themselves across the sheets
and lay eggs in my head.
I still lay here paralyzed
by an ever mounting fear
that the eggs inside will hatch
and in my head I'll hear
the ticking tacking of the claws
as the babies run about
and I can never even scream
for fear that they'll come out.

Wow. What a great piece. In my eyes, it's like escaping from the real world (the dark, enclosed, claustrophobic brick), and finding a whimsical place where any thing is possible (cliche, i know haha) There's no restraints or doubts and can accomplish anything. At least, that's my interpretation. Hope it makes sense =)

Perfect sense good fellow! And as cliched as the idea may be it's only cliched because it's what everybody really wants, right? You can't help but hope that the next time you open a door reality will fall away behind you. =D

Still practicing. Couldn't figure out how to soften the edges of the opening. Wouldn't have been necessary but I was determined to make it resemble a keyhole.

Immortal Memories I walk in silence
among aged and flaking stones
a graveyard with not a single name
writ upon its faces.
Rows upon rows
but only one is true
the one I seek to find
only the memory is gone.

I float through the air
down a dark twisting road
while the wind whispers beneath me
and the trees bend to touch my cheek.
I come upon a scene of desolation
of destruction and death
and it slithers beneath me
but death has two faces.

I dance with death
and its flashing fangs.
